"Florida..."The Sunshine State"

Click here for Florida Web Brochure

Florida is a peninsula located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.  It extends to the northwest into a panhandle, and extending along the northern Gulf of Mexico.  It is bordered on the north by the states of Alabama and Georgia, and on the west, at the end of the panhandle, by Alabama It is near the countries of the Caribbean and closest to the Bahamas and Cuba.

There are no Mountains in Florida; in fact, many people believe that Florida is entirely flat. Contrary to popular belief, however, Florida is not entirely "flat." Some places, such as Clearwater, feature vistas that rise 50 to 100 feet above the water.  The only mountains you can see in Florida are those of the famous amusement parks such as Disney (Orlando) and Busch Gardens (Tampa).

Florida's seasons are determined more by precipitation than by temperature.  The winter months are usually mild to cool and relatively dry (dry season) while the summer and spring seasons are usually hot and rainy (the wet season). Although, most of Florida commonly sees a high summer temperature over 90 degrees, the temperature seldom exceeds 100 degrees. The hottest temperatures are usually reached in late July and are primarily in the low 90s, and the coolest temperatures are usually reached in late January and range from the low 40s to the mid-50s.
